Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome! My name is Krista Hussey and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina. My education includes a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from William Paterson University and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. My professional experience includes working with children (5-yo & up), adolescents, young adults, older adults, couples, and families. I am able to treat a variety of conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Further, I have been able to assist those struggling with grief, major life events, or daily stress.

My approach to therapy

Throughout my life, my aim has always been to make those around me feel welcomed, heard, and understood. As a counselor, I believe that everyone has the tools to manage whatever life presents and my role is to help my clients identify and use their tools. Counseling is a collaborative effort wherein the client’s goals guide the process. I use an integrated approach that combines elements of clinically tested and evidence-based methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, to tailor my treatment plan to my client’s needs. Using a variety of interventions, such as creative expression, roleplaying, psychodynamic techniques, and meditation, I help my clients achieve their therapeutic goals.

What you can expect from me

My hope for our first session is to make my client feel comfortable by providing a warm, accepting, and safe space to share with me what has brought them to counseling. During our first session, I will provide information about the counseling process, including answering any questions they may have, discuss with my client their therapeutic goals, and gather information that will help me develop a treatment plan tailored to my client's needs.
