Kristen Borquist

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I hold a MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I have 35 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I highly value and embrace a multicultural perspective recognizing each client comes from a unique cultural and social context which in turn enriches, the counseling experience. I have experience in specific treatment areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/bereavement, and PTSD.

My approach is an integrated perspective that incorporates a Person-Centered therapeutic approach paired with Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I highly value accurately demonstrating genuine and real understanding of the client's subjective worldview. Together we will recognize and discover innate proficiencies and identified strengths which will be used as a source to support and assist with the resolution of identified challenges.

I always start with an intake session, where you will have the opportunity to share with me your story and what your goals are for seeking therapy. We will work together on designing a treatment plan as a way to measure your progression towards achieving your therapy goals. I strive in fostering rapport with my clients and use open-ended questions and unconditional positive regard, to create and maintain the therapy room as a safe place to process emotions, thoughts and behaviors.
