Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Kristen Goltz, MS, LMFT — a trauma therapist in Fort Collins, CO specializing in Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 1 therapy. I work with teens (13-17) and adults (18+) in-person in Fort Collins and virtually throughout Colorado and Florida.

I came to this work not just through training, but through my own healing journey. I know what it feels like to be weighed down by the past, to understand your patterns but still feel stuck, and to wonder if real change is actually possible. It is. I've lived it.

I specialize in complex trauma, relational trauma, attachment wounds, narcissistic abuse recovery, anxiety, depression, co-parenting and divorce recovery, and ADHD. If you've done therapy before but still feel stuck in the same patterns — this work goes deeper than traditional talk therapy.

My approach to therapy

My approach weaves together three powerful, evidence-based modalities — Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 1, and somatic therapy — to create a truly integrated healing experience.

I integrate IFS into the early stages of EMDR to make sure all parts of you feel safe and ready before we process traumatic memories. I also pay close attention to how trauma lives in the body — the tension in your shoulders, the pit in your stomach, the way your nervous system braces for impact — and use somatic awareness as a doorway into deeper healing.

My space is warm, collaborative, and completely judgment-free. Every part of you is welcome here. We move at your pace, with your consent, always. I follow my clients' lead throughout the entire process — never going further than they are ready.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about you — all of you, not just your problems. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to heal or change, but I also want to get to know you as a whole person — your interests, your relationships, your life outside of what's hard.

I use a lot of reflection and validation in our first session because I want you to feel truly heard — often for the first time. You'll never feel rushed or pushed to share more than you're ready to. I don't take notes during session so I can stay completely focused on you and what you're saying.

If we get to treatment planning in our first session, great. If not, we'll cover it together in the following session. There's no pressure — we move at the pace that feels right for you.
