Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. Kris Nugent. I specialize in supporting Professionals who are experiencing stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, life transitions, or the challenges of developing confidence and balance within the helping profession.

As a Professor of Social Work and a trauma-informed therapist, I understand the unique demands placed on social workers, clinicians, and caregivers. My work focuses on helping you build resilience, strengthen your professional identity, and create sustainable self-care practices that support you personally and professionally.

My approach integrates trauma-informed therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic approaches, mindfulness, movement, wellness practices, and evidence-based strategies to help you reconnect with yourself. Please email me at [email protected] with any questions.

My approach to therapy

I meet people where they are and offer a therapeutic approach that allows for authenticity and connection. My approach to therapy is to create space for any individual in a safe environment. My approach is to be real and allow each individual to be heard in a nonjudgmental setting. At times, I like to use a body-mind connection and will offer somatic yoga, meditation, and guided imagery in order to assist with healing. My approach is to individualize each treatment. Please email me at [email protected] with any questions.

What you can expect from me

My approach integrates trauma-informed therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic approaches, mindfulness, movement, wellness practices, and evidence-based strategies to help you reconnect with yourself.

Together, we may explore:

• Preventing burnout and compassion fatigue • Developing healthy boundaries and emotional resilience • Navigating graduate school, clinical training, and professional transitions • Building confidence as a helping professional • Reconnecting with your body through somatic awareness and mindfulness • Creating sustainable fitness and movement practices that support mental health • Exploring the connection between nutrition, energy, mood, and overall wellness • Supporting women in understanding the mind-body connection and partnering with healthcare providers around hormonal health and life transitions

My goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive space where you can heal, grow, and develop practices that allow you to thrive while continuing to serve others.
