Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. Kris Nugent. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Associate Professor. My area of expertise is in the area of Addiction/Recovery, Food Addiction, Codependency, Wellness, and Trauma. I have been working in the recovery field for over 20 years. In addition, I am a somatic yoga teacher and am trauma-informed. I have created MSW curriculum in the area of Addiction, Mental Health, International Adoption, and Wellness. I have used experiential therapies for healing.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I meet people where they are and offer a therapeutic approach that allows for authenticity and connection. My approach to therapy is to create space for any individual in a safe environment. My approach is to be real and allow each individual to be heard in a nonjudgmental setting. At times, I like to use a body-mind connection and will offer somatic yoga, meditation, and guided imagery in order to assist with healing. My approach is to individualize each treatment.

What you can expect from our first session

I want any individual to feel encouraged and supported in each session. In addition, it is vital to take away an action plan in order to navigate life from session to session. I would like my clients to take away that at any time they can reinvent themselves and create new narratives that are helpful rather than hurtful. After each session, "I can do hard stuff" is the new motto. "Yes, YOU can" will be my voice "louder" than the Ego Mind.
