Great to meet you!

I specialize in helping people heal after trauma. Loosely defined, trauma is any one or a series of events that overwhelms our ability to cope. Trauma dysregulates our emotions, changes how we feel about ourselves, and alters our sense of safety and security in the world. Trauma impacts us emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. Trauma impacts our ability to think clearly, to relate effectively with others, and to cope effectively with normal life challenges. Trauma can lead to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, codependency, and of course, PTSD.

My approach to therapy

I believe that a good therapist will respect your values and goals, consider your learning style, and your current circumstances. Drawing from 40 years of experience, I use approaches that address how trauma impacts a person’s whole being including self-image, emotions, social interactions, and even our physical health. My work is informed by cognitive therapies (CBT, ACT, DBT), mindfulness, and psychodynamic approaches, as well as EMDR and parts work

What you can expect from me

It takes courage to share our most vulnerable feelings or the darker parts of our lives. My goal is to earn your trust and to provide you with effective treatment that enables you to live your best life. My idea of a good therapist is one who is kind, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and who has access to a good amount of knowledge and wisdom. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have, or if you would like, feel free to schedule an appointment.
