Great to meet you!

I have been a therapist for 23 years, and I still consider it a privilege to sit with people during the hardest and most tender parts of their lives. My style is warm and down to earth. I am not the therapist who nods silently for 50 minutes. I will ask real questions, laugh with you, and tell you the truth kindly when you need to hear it.

Much of my work centers on anxiety, depression, stress, women's issues, family relationships, grief, chronic illness, end of life concerns, and questions of identity and culture. If you are carrying something heavy, you do not have to explain it perfectly for me to understand it.

Outside my office, I am usually with my two corgis, cooking with my husband, or trying a new restaurant with him. We also love travel and live music. I make art, wander art festivals with my girlfriends, garden and make herbal medicines, read constantly, practice yoga, spend as much time in nature as I can, and yes, I keep a very tidy island in Animal Crossing.

My approach to therapy

I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my job is to help you understand what is happening inside you and build practical ways forward. Therapy with me is collaborative, not a lecture.

I draw from Internal Family Systems, which helps us get curious about the different parts of you rather than fighting them. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for the thought patterns that keep you stuck, and somatic work and biofeedback when your body is holding stress that words alone cannot reach. I also lean on strength-based and positive psychology approaches, motivational interviewing, and problem-solving therapy, because insight feels much better when it comes with tools you can actually use on a Tuesday afternoon.

We will move at your pace. Some sessions go deep into old wounds. Others focus on getting through this week. Both count as real work. I will check in regularly about what is helping and what is not, and I welcome your honest feedback about it.

What you can expect from me

Mostly, you can expect to feel a little more at ease than you did walking in.

We will start with the practical pieces, including confidentiality and how I work, and then I will invite you to tell me what brought you here. You do not need a polished story or a clear diagnosis. Starting with "I am not sure where to begin" is completely fine. I will ask questions to understand your history, your relationships, your health, and what daily life looks like right now, but you are always allowed to say "not yet" to anything.

Before we finish, we will talk about what you are hoping for and what a good outcome would look like for you. I will share my initial thoughts on how I can help and what our work together might involve, and you will have time to ask me anything.
