Great to meet you!

Stop being the "reliable one" at the expense of yourself.

You are the person everyone leans on. You’re the fixer, the listener, and the one who anticipates everyone’s needs before they even ask. But lately, that role has left you feeling anxious, resentful, and completely drained. Whether you are navigating a partner’s addiction, a demanding family dynamic, or a workplace where you can’t say "no," you’ve become an expert at managing everyone’s emotions except your own.

I’m Kristina Carrera, and I help adults break free from the cycle of relational exhaustion. With over 15 years of experience as both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Addiction Counselor, I specialize in the "messy" middle of relationships: enmeshment, codependency, and betrayal trauma.

I help you untangle your identity from the people around you so you can build a life rooted in firm boundaries, self-respect, and genuine peace. You’ve spent long enough taking care of everyone else—it’s time someone took care of you.

My approach to therapy

My work lives at the intersection of Relational Trauma, Addiction, and Boundary Setting. We won't just "vent" about your week; we will actively rewire the patterns that keep you stuck.

By blending EMDR to process past hurts with Solution-Focused therapy for your current reality, we aim for "aha" moments that lead to actual change. My style is warm and empowering, but I’m not afraid to be direct. We will work together to move you from feeling "trapped" by your obligations to feeling grounded, clear-headed, and finally in control of your own life.

What you can expect from me

The first step is often the hardest, so I make our first session as clear and productive as possible. We will:

  1. Identify the "Leak": Pinpoint exactly where your energy is being drained most right now.
  2. Map the Cycle: Understand the specific relationship patterns that keep you feeling guilty or stuck.
  3. Create a Safety Plan for your Peace: You’ll leave our first meeting with a concrete tool or a new perspective to help you hold a boundary before we even meet a second time.
