Great to meet you!

I believe it is crucial for those seeking counseling to encounter a safe and compassionate environment. Since 2011, I have been providing mental health services in South West Virginia. My experiences range from mental health work in homes, hospitals, and alternative school settings to individual and family therapy in the outpatient setting.

My approach in the therapy space is informed by two masters degrees, ongoing clinical training, and collaboration with many licensed supervisors specializing in a variety of areas during my residency. I also enjoy gradually implementing humor and personality as the therapeutic relationship develops.

My approach to therapy

My goal is to meet clients where they are with warmth and connection. Whether helping clients navigate relationship wounds, digging into attachment, making room for personal growth, or processing the impact of trauma, I utilize evidence-based practices that promote person-centered and strength-focused approaches. I hope that clients leave the therapy experience with greater access to internal calm or peace, increased awareness and insight, new skills, and expanded knowledge about themselves, others and the world around them.

I specialize in the areas of trauma, stress, grief, ADHD, attachment and relationship wounds, and life transitions. Therapeutic approaches that I commonly implement include polyvagal theory, psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, somatic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and some dialectical behavior therapy.

What you can expect from me

Throughout your time in therapy, what you seek may change. Some clients tend to be focused on action items like solutions and strategies to cope. Others may have a greater need to process their experiences and might desire to understand themselves better, gain relief from difficult emotions or relationships, or possibly replace unhelpful patterns. Because individual wants or needs from the counseling experience can shift throughout the process, I utilize check-ins and invitations for feedback to ensure clients are receiving value from the work we do together.
