Great to meet you!

I'm Nicole Shelton, a double board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner (APRN, PMHNP, FNP). My experience in ICU and the ER informs my holistic approach to care. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma across the lifespan. As a military wife and mother, I emphasize lifestyle balance, encouraging patients to integrate nutrition and exercise. I am dedicated to breaking mental health stigma and advocating for veterans and those impacted by trauma, ensuring you feel seen, supported, and empowered on your journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and holistic. I foster a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel truly heard and empowered. I use therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, patient education, and evidence-based decision-making. My care plans integrate psychotherapy, medication management, and lifestyle interventions to support your long-term wellness and recovery. I am committed to working together to address the full picture of your mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is all about getting to know you. We will take the time to discuss what has brought you here, your symptoms, your health history, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. Because my approach is holistic and trauma-informed, we will explore the connection between your mind, body, and environment. We will collaboratively discuss treatment options—this may include medication, therapy, nutrition, exercise, or other wellness strategies. Most importantly, I want you to leave our first session feeling heard, supported, and understood. This is a safe space where we will begin creating a plan for you to feel more balanced, resilient, and empowered.
