Great to meet you!

Krystin Cuthrell is a Licensed Professional Counselor whose work is shaped by a lifelong connection to movement and creative expression. She began her career as a ballet instructor and later spent more than a decade teaching yoga, experiences that deepened her understanding of embodiment, compassion, and the mind–body relationship.

She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville State University in 2023 and is currently pursuing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands. Krystin primarily supports traditional and non‐traditional college students, specializing in religious trauma, body‐image concerns, identity development, self‐compassion, and LGBTQIA+‐affirming care.

Grounded in expressive arts and mindful, strengths‐based approaches, she also presents at local and state-wide conferences on the importance of self‐care for helping professionals.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in a person‐centered philosophy, which means I view each client as the expert of their own experience. I strive to create a space that feels accepting, collaborative, and grounded in genuine human connection. Mindfulness and present‐moment awareness are woven throughout my work, helping clients slow down, notice their internal world with compassion, and reconnect with their strengths.

Affirming and accepting care is central to my practice. I honor each client’s identity, lived experience, and cultural context, with particular commitment to providing supportive, LGBTQIA+‐affirming therapy. Whether we’re exploring emotions, religious trauma, identity, body image, or life transitions, my goal is to help clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to move toward growth in ways that feel authentic to them.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and lay the foundation for trust. I’ll invite you to share a bit about who you are, what brought you to therapy at this point in your life, and what you hope to explore or change. Together, we’ll talk through your concerns, your strengths, and any questions you may have about the counseling process.

We’ll also begin shaping therapy goals that feel meaningful and specific to you. My aim is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered from the very beginning, so we can move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and authentic.
