Great to meet you!

Being heard matters. That belief is why I founded Listening Well Counseling. I'm Kursley, a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience, and I see clients in Baytown, Texas, and online across the state.

I work with children, teens, and adults facing anxiety, depression, stress, anger, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, grief, panic, OCD, and self-esteem struggles. I also support clients through life transitions like infertility, pregnancy and postpartum, and end-of-life concerns. Everyone is welcome here, including LGBTQ+ and transgender clients. My background in psychology and clinical work in both Australia and the United States gives me a global, culturally informed perspective, so you won't need to fit into a box to feel understood.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, flexible, and down to earth. I want you to feel heard, understood, and never judged, because that trust is what makes real progress possible. From there, I draw on proven methods matched to what you need: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to untangle unhelpful thinking, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness to help you live by what matters, Schema Therapy for long-standing patterns, and Solution-Focused work and Motivational Interviewing when you're ready to make a change. For children, I use play therapy and family-based CBT, so kids can work through big feelings in a way that makes sense to them. The goal is always real coping skills you can use in everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a relaxed, judgment-free introduction. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what's been hardest lately, and what you'd like to be different. You don't need to have it all figured out or share everything at once. For children, I'll usually spend time with the parent first to understand what's going on at home and school. By the end, you'll have a clear sense of how we'll work together and where we'll start.
