Great to meet you!

I work well with people who feel like they don't fit in, feel unfulfilled, misunderstood, or disconnected, or who have had trouble finding their way in life. While I am comfortable supporting my clients in addressing a wide range of issues, I have postgraduate training in several more specialized approaches including person-centered, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, trauma-informed, and focusing-oriented therapies. Equally importantly, I am an avid meditator and my meditation practice deeply informs my approach to therapy. In addition to holding the standard psychologist license in several states, I am also a nationally registered Health Service Psychologist (HSP), which is a higher standard of professional credentialling.

My approach to therapy

I have learned to be very flexible and tailor my way of working to each individual person. That said, I value and try to cultivate in myself qualities of acceptance, warmth, patience, and thoughtful communication. I take care to refrain from jumping to conclusions, and I try hard to listen carefully. I see my main job as to fully accept and welcome the person in front of me to become their most authentic self.

What you can expect from me

After an initial intake interview, we spend time clarifying intentions and goals for therapy. After that, we typically spend a few sessions delving deeply into the psychological barriers that have gotten in the way of the goals. As I deepen my understanding, I start to see how a client is growing and changing, and can support their unique developmental trajectory. Processing emotions, rethinking belief systems, and changing behaviors are important aspects of the change process for most people.
