Great to meet you!

I've been a licensed counselor and educator for the past 12 years. I hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education, MS in School and Mental Health Counseling, and a BA in Psychology. My primary clinical specialties involve trauma recovery and grief. I have extensive experience in crisis shelters for families escaping intimate partner violence, and many of my clients also struggle with substances. I'm a full-time Professor in a graduate counseling program and have been a virtual practitioner for 6 years.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach intentionally integrates various theoretical models dependent on client need. I'm highly humanistic and think healing takes place in emotions before actions. I'm attentive to client stories and can help you recognize cognitive distortions that may be causing distress. I'm also trauma-informed, and we can explore past events or themes that tend to create learned conditions in the present. I believe pain is part of the human condition, but suffering doesn't have to to be.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to be seen and heard with unconditional positive regard in every session. I'll always meet you as a human first, and we'll focus on creating positive changes second.
