L. Michelle Codington

Michelle is a dynamic clinician with more than 29 years of experience in counseling, mediation, leadership and consulting. She is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and a Certified Family Trauma Professional.

Prior to founding The Thrive Network in 2014, Michelle provided therapy with families, children and couples; international adoption consulting; mediation for family court; and consulting/training for various businesses and non-profit organizations.

She is a trainer and supervisor for the internationally known Trauma Play model and coaches clinicians from around the world in implementing this modality with traumatized children.

She is a frequent presenter at local and national mental health conferences.

Each client is different. Therefore, I do not approach every situation in the same way. My clients bring their concerns and I bring warmth, acceptance and empowerment to support them in achieving their therapeutic goals.

Initial sessions generally focus on what brought someone to therapy as well as what outcomes they're hoping to achieve. Developing a warm, open relationship takes time but it begins the first time we interact.
