Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm La-Retha Brown, LPC, and I'm glad you're here.

Seeking therapy is a courageous first step, and my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move toward the life you want. I believe that healing begins when people feel safe enough to be honest about where they are while also discovering the strengths they already possess.

I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, stress, trauma, self-esteem concerns, and difficulties managing emotions. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful goals that align with your values.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and solution-focused. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness techniques. I tailor treatment to meet your unique needs because I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all.

Whether you're navigating a difficult season, rebuilding after loss, strengthening relationships, or simply seeking personal growth, I am committed to walking alongside you throughout the process.

Together, we'll work to help you shift from surviving to thriving and empower you to shift the power back to yourself.

I look forward to being part of your journey.

My approach to therapy

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a genuine connection while also helping clients move toward meaningful change. I believe therapy should be both supportive and practical. While I provide a compassionate space to process life's challenges, I also help clients develop realistic strategies they can apply outside of our sessions.

With experience in education and mental health, I understand that every person's story is unique. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor each session to meet your individual needs, strengths, and goals. I value collaboration and believe that lasting change happens when clients feel heard, challenged, and empowered.

My approach stands out because I don't believe therapy is about "fixing" people. I believe it's about helping people recognize the resilience and strengths they already possess. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief, or personal growth, my goal is to help you gain clarity, build confidence, and create lasting change.

Together, we'll work to help you shift from surviving to thriving by equipping you with practical tools, fostering resilience, and empowering you to reclaim the power that's already within you.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel unsure about what to expect. During our first session, my priority is getting to know you not just the challenges that brought you here, but the person behind them. We'll talk about what's been weighing on you, what has helped (or hasn't), and what you hope will be different as a result of therapy.

This first conversation isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating a foundation built on trust, understanding, and collaboration. Together, we'll identify your strengths, clarify your goals, and develop a plan that reflects your unique needs and values.

My hope is that you'll leave our first session feeling heard, encouraged, and confident that you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. Wherever you are in your journey, I'll meet you there and together, we'll work to help you shift from surviving to thriving and reclaim the power that's already within you.
