Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Laal, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University, and I’ve been practicing with individuals, couples, and families for 5 years.

What drives my work is I aim to help people feel seen and understood. Meaningful change often starts with safety and attentive listening. I’m drawn to how past experiences shape present feelings and relationships, and I’m committed to helping you connect those dots in a way that supports your wellbeing.

A bit about me is that I value openness, curiosity, and patience. I’m mindful of how cultural and personal contexts shape experiences. I aim to meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable to your needs.

I work with Individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma. Individuals in substance use recovery. Couples seeking better communication, trust, and intimacy. Families looking to build, rebuild connection, and resolve conflicts

Sessions are focused to be a warm, collaborative space to share your story without judgment. Exploration of early experiences, attachment patterns, and their impact on daily life. A practical, individualized plan that blends insight with real-world coping and relationship skills.

My approach to therapy

I work in a collaborative, and respectful, creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore what matters most to you. Therapy is a partnership, and I tailor the pace and content to your comfort level, values, and goals, while offering guidance and practical tools. My modalities include psychodynamic therapy to explore how past experiences and patterns influence current feelings and behavior, CBT to identify and modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, and DBT to build skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. My focus areas are anxiety, depression, and trauma, with a commitment to tailoring each plan to your wants, needs, and future goals. Each plan combines the approaches that fit you best and adjusts as you progress, change, and grow, emphasizing real-world skills and outcomes. In sessions, you can expect a collaborative space to set goals, a blend of insight-oriented work and skill-building guided by your preferences, and regular reviews to ensure what’s working and what could be adjusted to better support you.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a warm welcome and a clear orientation to the space, including confidentiality, boundaries, session length, and cancellations. The first session centers on building rapport and safety in a nonjudgmental environment, ensuring the client’s comfort within the therapeutic space. There will be a brief intake to understand the client’s background, current concerns, and what brought them to therapy, followed by an initial discussion of goals and their desired timeframe per client’s request. A light assessment covers relevant history, symptoms, and risk considerations, alongside an overview of the chosen therapeutic approach and how it can be tailored to the client’s needs.
