Laila Ashkazari earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University (Nashville, TN) in 2015. She completed her undergraduate education at Loyola University (Chicago, IL) in 2011 with degrees in Secondary Education and Spanish. Laila has clinical experience in working with clients of all ages from children to adults. Laila was employed in various clinical settings, including hospital emergency departments and community mental health centers.

My approach to therapy

Laila’s clinical approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected to enact change. In her work, Laila also draws from Solution-Focused CBT, Trauma-Informed CBT, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy. Laila is bilingual with fluency in Spanish.

Therapy sessions are tailored to the clients' specific needs. Whether it is client-centered, or therapist led, each session will be unique to you. The goal of therapy is to help the client process, understand, and gain insight towards their behaviors and thought patterns to live a more successful life, whatever that may be.
