Great to meet you!

  1. Hi, I'm Lakesha Duncan, MS, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master's degree in counseling and more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health. I've had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in outpatient, residential, and community settings. I specialize in helping individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, co-occurring mental health conditions, grief, and life transitions. My approach is warm, compassionate, and practical, and I strive to create a safe space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes. Whether you're beginning your healing journey or looking for new tools to move forward, I'm here to help every step of the way.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel safe, respected, and understood. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs. I use evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and trauma-informed care to help you develop practical coping strategies, improve emotional well-being, and achieve your personal goals. Together, we'll build on your strengths while addressing the challenges that may be holding you back.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my priority is getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your concerns, personal history, strengths, and the goals you'd like to work toward, all at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard and supported. By the end of the session, we'll begin developing a personalized plan that helps you move toward lasting growth and positive change.
