Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. Lara Cohen, a Colorado-based, licensed clinical psychologist and neurodivergent human. I work with adults, older teens, and parents of neurodivergent children, as well as LGBTQIA+ individuals and people managing medical challenges. Many of my clients feel misunderstood or stuck; despite our differences, we share the challenge of living authentically and thriving in a world that wasn’t designed with our wiring in mind. I partner with you to understand your unique strengths and challenges and support you in building a meaningful, empowered life.

My approach to therapy

Former clients describe me as warm, open-minded, and affirming. I use an evidence-based, person-centered approach grounded in ACT, focusing on the therapeutic relationship, emotional awareness, and compassion. We start where you are and collaborate on your goals. I also help neurodivergent clients make sense of psychological assessments when relevant. My approach is flexible, values-driven, and tailored to your unique wiring and identity.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, we’ll explore what keeps you feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, or self-doubt and begin identifying ways to create a life that feels meaningful and true to you. I provide a collaborative, neurodiversity- and identity-affirming space where you can feel seen, supported, and understood. Vulnerability can feel risky, especially for minority clients, so we move at a pace that feels safe while inviting curiosity and growth.
