Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. LaShawnda Lindsay, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Educational Psychologist with 6 years of clinical experience supporting teens, adults, couples, and families through life transitions and emotional challenges. In addition to my clinical work, I bring over 20 years of experience in higher education as an educator, researcher, and mentor, which allows me to approach therapy with both professional expertise and genuine compassion.

I work with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, self-esteem concerns, grief, identity development, and major life transitions. I also support couples and families working through communication difficulties, conflict, relationship stress, and patterns that impact connection and emotional wellness.

My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to show up as your full self while building the tools needed to move forward with clarity, confidence, and emotional wellness.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, honest, and grounded in accountability. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow while also being challenged to reflect, heal, and make meaningful changes.

I tailor therapy to meet the unique needs of each client because I believe one size does not fit all. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused approaches to help clients better understand themselves, their emotions, behaviors, and relationship patterns.

My goal is to help clients develop healthier ways of coping, improve relationships, and create meaningful change that feels realistic and sustainable for their lives. I strive to create a space where clients feel supported, understood, and encouraged to grow in ways that feel meaningful and authentic to who they are.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they are encouraged to show up as their authentic selves. I strive to make the first session feel more conversational than simply a series of questions and answers, while still gathering important information through the intake and assessment process to better understand your experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals. Together, we will begin identifying patterns, challenges, and areas for growth while discussing what you hope to gain from therapy.

My approach is collaborative and personalized, with our conversation guided by your unique experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Many clients leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer understanding of next steps in the therapeutic process.
