Great to meet you!

I'm Latanya, an LMFT who works with individuals, couples, and families navigating some of life's hardest moments. I grew up understanding what it means to carry things quietly, to be strong when everyone around you needs you to be. That experience shapes how I work: I take seriously what it costs to walk into therapy for the first time, and I don't take it lightly that you're here.

I work with anyone who's felt like the therapy world wasn't quite built for them. Cultural context isn't an add-on in my practice, it's central to how I understand people and how I listen.

I hold space for trauma, grief, anxiety, relationship strain, and the kind of exhaustion that builds when you've been the strong one for too long. My telehealth practice serves clients statewide across Louisiana, so geography is never a barrier.

My approach to therapy

I draw from several evidence-based approaches and adapt them to what each client actually needs is not a one-size approach. You'll likely see elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when we're working with thought patterns, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) when we're doing couples or relational work, the Gottman Method for relationship repair, and Trauma-Focused CBT for processing difficult experiences.

I also believe in the power of narrative. The story you tell about yourself matters, and sometimes part of the work is rewriting it. Sessions are collaborative. You're not a passive recipient here. I'll bring structure, tools, and honest reflection, and I'll follow your lead on pace and depth.

Expect warmth, but also expect me to gently challenge you when it's useful. I hold both.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a conversation, not an intake form. I want to understand what's brought you here and what you're hoping for in whatever form that takes. You don't need a polished explanation ready.

I'll share a bit about how I work, ask some questions about your background and what's feeling most urgent right now, and we'll start to figure out what a useful direction looks like for you. There's no pressure to commit to anything after one session. I want you to feel like you chose this, not just landed here.

Sessions are 50 minutes via telehealth, available in the evenings and on weekends for clients who need flexibility around work or caregiving. If this sounds like a fit, I'd love to connect.
