Great to meet you!

I am Dr. LaTaya T. Whitaker, DNP, PMHNP‐BC, FNP‐BC, a dual‐certified Nurse Practitioner with more than twenty years of experience in primary care, urgent care, occupational health, and psychiatric mental health. My practice is grounded in whole‐person, evidence‐based care that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing. Over the years, I’ve worked in federal agency clinics, community health settings, and academic nursing programs, where I’ve had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma‐related concerns, mood disorders, and life transitions. I am deeply committed to providing accessible, equitable mental health care and helping individuals move toward stability, clarity, and long‐term wellness.

My approach to therapy

I approach care with a blend of clinical expertise, compassion, and cultural humility. I work to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and genuinely understood. My style is collaborative and patient‐centered. I believe treatment works best when we build it together. I take time to learn your story, your strengths, and your goals so we can create a plan that fits your life, not the other way around. I use evidence‐based practices while also considering the whole person—mind, body, and environment—to help you build resilience and navigate challenges with confidence.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a calm, welcoming environment designed to help them feel comfortable and understood. The first session focuses on getting to know your history, concerns, and goals so we can create a clear, personalized plan together. I take time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and ensure you feel safe sharing your experiences. By the end of the session, most clients leave with a sense of direction, a better understanding of their needs, and confidence that they have a supportive partner in their healing journey.
