Great to meet you!

Sometimes you don’t need someone to tell you what’s wrong—you already know something isn’t working. You may be overwhelmed, exhausted from holding everything together, struggling to quiet your mind, or simply tired of feeling like you should be doing better than you are. Therapy can be a place to finally put some of that down.

I’m LaToscha Sherman, MS, LPC, and my style is warm, conversational, curious, and practical. You don’t have to show up with the perfect words or know exactly what you want to work on. We can figure that out together. I believe therapy should be a space where you don’t have to leave parts of yourself at the door. Your culture, family, faith, identity, responsibilities, and the expectations you’ve learned to carry all matter here.

I work with adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy working with people who are used to being the strong, capable, dependable one—the person everyone else counts on—but privately feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply tired. If you’ve gotten really good at showing up, achieving, adapting, or being what different spaces require of you, therapy can be a place where you don’t have to perform.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to you. We’ll spend time understanding not just what you’re experiencing, but why certain patterns keep showing up and what you can actually do differently. My goal isn’t for you to stay in therapy forever. I want you to understand yourself better, develop tools that work in your real life, and feel more confident navigating life outside of our sessions.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should help you understand yourself AND give you something useful to do with that understanding. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I’ll listen, validate, and create space for you to process—but I’ll also ask questions, help you notice patterns, challenge you when it’s helpful, and work with you to figure out what change can actually look like in your life.

I draw from CBT, person-centered, solution-focused, and trauma-informed approaches, but I don’t believe therapy should feel like a textbook. We’ll tailor the work to you—your personality, your experiences, your culture, your values, and even the way your brain works.

A phrase you’ll probably hear from me is, “Let’s get curious.” Instead of judging yourself for why you think, feel, or respond a certain way, we’ll work to understand it. Because when you understand the pattern, you have more power to decide whether you want to keep it.

That’s the heart of my approach: Learn. Apply. Become. Learn about yourself, apply what you discover, and become more intentional about the life you want to live.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know you—not rushing to “fix” you. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what life has been feeling like lately, and what you’d like to be different. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, relationships, background, and the things that have shaped how you move through the world.

And don’t worry—you don’t have to tell me your entire life story in one hour or know exactly where to start. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify the patterns, stressors, and strengths that may be important to our work together.

You can also expect some conversation, some curiosity, probably a little laughter when appropriate, and absolutely no judgment. By the end of our first few sessions, my goal is for us to have a clearer understanding of what’s happening, where you want to go, and how we’re going to work together to get there.

You bring your life experience. I’ll bring the clinical tools. Together, we’ll get in the LAB.
