Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Latosha Haywood, LCPC, with a Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University and I'm really glad you're here.

Before I became a therapist, I spent years as a 911 call taker, showing up for people in some of their scariest, most overwhelming moments. That work taught me something I carry into every session: that people are so much stronger than they realize, and that having someone truly in your corner can make all the difference.

If you're going through something hard right now, whether it's the heaviness of anxiety or depression, the echoes of past trauma, or just feeling like life has knocked you off balance, I want you to know that you don't have to figure it out alone. My door is open, and you can come exactly as you are.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a breath of fresh air, not another thing to stress about. I take a gentle, collaborative approach, which means I follow your lead. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you.

I weave together person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused techniques to help you rediscover your own strength and start building the life you actually want. I'm also trained in EMDR, a deeply effective method for healing from trauma that works even when words feel hard to find.

What you can expect from me

First sessions can feel a little nerve-wracking, and that's completely okay. My goal for our first time meeting is simple: I just want to get to know you.

There's no pressure to have all the answers, and no judgment. Just an easy, open conversation where you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. I'll ask some gentle questions to learn about what's been going on for you, what's brought you here, and what you're hoping life could look like on the other side of this.

As we get to know each other, we'll also begin a simple assessment together, a relaxed, conversational way of helping me understand your full picture so I can support you in the best way possible. This is something we'll ease into over our first couple of sessions, always at a pace that feels okay for you.

By the end of our time together, my hope is that you leave feeling a little lighter than when you came in and like this might just be a space where you can breathe.

You set the pace.

I'll meet you wherever you are.
