Great to meet you!

I’m Laura Cassidy, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S), EMDR Certified therapist, and Certified DBT therapist. I own Cassidy Counseling, where I offer telehealth sessions for adolescents and adults.

My work is rooted in helping people actually understand themselves—not just manage symptoms. I specialize in working with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. A lot of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns they can’t quite get out of, or like they’re constantly “on edge” or disconnected from themselves.

I have a background in mindfulness-based practices and integrate approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and EMDR to support both emotional and nervous system regulation. My style is real, human, and non-judgmental—I’m not here to force you into a box or expect you to have it all together.

My approach to therapy

I take a holistic, skills-based approach that focuses on both insight and action. Therapy with me isn’t just talking—it’s learning how to actually navigate your emotions, relationships, and stress in a way that feels sustainable.

I often incorporate DBT skills like emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, along with mindfulness and nervous system awareness. For clients working through trauma, I also use EMDR to help process and release what’s been stuck.

I show up as myself in sessions—direct, honest, and supportive. I’ll validate where you’re at, but I’ll also gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to help you build awareness, confidence, and practical tools so you can handle life outside of session—not just during it.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting a feel for each other and creating a space where you can show up as you are—no pressure to have everything figured out.

We’ll talk through what’s been going on, what’s bringing you in, and what you’re hoping for. I’ll ask questions to understand your background, patterns, and current stressors, but it won’t feel like an interrogation. It’s more of a conversation.

By the end of the session, we’ll start identifying goals and what direction we want to move in. You can expect to leave with a better sense of clarity and a general plan for how we’ll work together moving forward.

Most importantly, I aim to create a space that feels grounded, honest, and actually helpful—not just another place where you talk in circles.
