Great to meet you!

You've probably spent a long time being capable — holding things together, pushing through, doing what needs to be done. And somewhere in the middle of all that, you lost the thread back to yourself. Maybe it's burnout, a career crossroads, infertility, grief, or the emotional exhaustion of living with a chronic illness. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know: you don't have to figure this out alone.

I'm Laura — a Licensed Professional Counselor with 17 years of clinical experience and a background that sets me apart. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 20 years as a Career Counselor, walking alongside people from their first job to retirement. That experience taught me something most clinicians don't get in a classroom: that our sense of identity, purpose, and emotional health are deeply connected. When one unravels, they all do.

I work with adults and seniors navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, infertility, maternal mental health, and the mental load of chronic illness. I'm warm, direct, and practical — I'll sit with you in the hard stuff, and I'll also help you build real tools to move through it.

My approach to therapy

Therapy with me is collaborative — I'm not going to sit quietly and nod while you talk into a void. I'll ask honest questions, offer a different perspective when it might help, and meet you where you actually are (not where you think you should be).

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Positive Psychology — adapting my approach to fit your situation rather than applying a formula. I believe you already have the capacity for change; my job is to help you access it.

My career counseling background shapes how I work. I understand that identity, purpose, and work aren't separate from mental health — they're central to it. Whether you're rethinking your career, coping with an infertility journey, grieving a loss, or managing the emotional weight of a chronic condition, I bring a whole-person perspective to the work.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a real conversation — not a checklist. I want to understand not just what's bringing you in, but the full picture: your life, your history, what matters most to you, and what you want to feel like on the other side of this.

You won't leave with homework you didn't ask for or a diagnosis handed to you like a receipt. You'll leave with a clearer sense of what we're working on together and what the path forward looks like. Most clients tell me they feel a shift within the first few sessions — not because therapy is magic, but because having the right support finally makes things feel less impossible.

All sessions are virtual, so you can show up from wherever you're most comfortable. If you've been putting this off, now is a good time to start.
