Great to meet you!

I was fascinated by psychology since high school. In college, I took a Chicanx psychology course and then had an opportunity to volunteer at a Latinx community mental health center. It inspired me to continue to be of service to diverse and multicultural communities. In graduate school, I enjoyed working with the student population and that prepared me to work at a university counseling center. I've been in private practice for 14+ years, supporting BIPOC and Latinx women.

My approach to therapy

During the initial session, we spend time exploring goals for current stressors and identifying how old familial patterns and narratives contribute to current events. I guide you in using evidence-based skills/tools. Sessions include a combination of talk therapy and grounding techniques, including breath work, somatic work, and reprocessing work. I integrate mindfulness-based exercises and use a SUD (subjective units of distress) scale regularly so that clients can confirm using their own felt sense as to how these tools are benefitting them. I recommend certain grounding exercises and readings in between sessions.

What you can expect from me

We'll do a session overview and highlight a takeaway at each session; getting you closer to your goals.
