Great to meet you!

Laura Huntzinger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in strengths-based, attachment-informed work with children, youth and families. With extensive experience providing both individual and group therapy, she supports her clients using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-focused Therapy. She incorporates developmentally appropriate interventions and play therapy techniques to ensure that each child receives care tailored to their unique stage of growth and emotional needs.

She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California, where she completed additional training in school social work, and holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University. She holds Pupil Personnel Services Credential in both Child Welfare and Attendance and School Social Work. Before entering private practice, she worked for many years in the schools, supporting students in dropout retention and therapeutic programs across elementary, junior high and high school settings. She is Mental Health First Aid Certified by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and is also a designated Foster/Homeless Liaison by the Los Angeles County Office of Education.

My approach to therapy

I help families build stronger connections, empower children and teens to manage challenges, and foster resilience through compassionate, competent and practical care.

What you can expect from me

In a first session we will get to know each other and I will answer any questions you may have about therapy. I will ask questions about family, culture, history, and current functioning to gather pertinent information to aide in this process. We will discuss the confidential nature of therapy sessions, as well as the limits of confidentiality. I look forward to meeting with you!
