Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Laura, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I work with clients exploring their relationship with substances, LGBTQ+ identity, stress, relationship concerns, and recovery after cyber crimes. My practice is queer affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that therapy should honor each person's lived experience, autonomy, and goals.

My approach to therapy

Many people come to therapy carrying parts of their experience they have not felt safe sharing - whether it is substance use, identity exploration, relationship struggles, burnout, or the impact of being victimized online. My goal is to create a space where you feel less alone and able to speak openly without fear of judgment.

My style is warm, collaborative, and compassionate. I practice from a harm reduction lens, and use motivational interviewing to help you better understand yourself and create change. Depending on your goals, I may also integrate skills from DBT, CBT, and mindfulness.

What you can expect from me

I understand that many people have experienced environments where they felt judged, misunderstood, unsafe or pressured to change before they were ready. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that feels respectful, empowering and emotionally safe - one where all parts of you are welcome. In our first session, you can expect a warm and supportive space where we begin getting to know each other and what brings you to therapy. I'll be particularly curious to hear what you want to be different and what you'd like from our time working together. My goal is for you to end our session feeling heard, and with a strong sense of whether this feels like a good fit.
