Laura Passaretti

With several years of experience working as a community therapist, in schools and residential settings, I specialize in work with adolescents and families. A lifelong resident of Ulster County and educated at SUNY Albany, I am committed to supporting the individuals within my community. I am passionate about Cognitive Behavior Therapy as well as Creative Art Therapy, but first and foremost I am person-centered and strength based.

I offer flexibility and choice as a way of honoring individual needs. Together, we may seek to uncover the impact of complex experiences, to identify underlying thought patterns or the forces that drive behavior. Processing an event through narrative sequencing in one session may lead to mindfulness practice or the use of art materials in the next. Through the lens of trauma informed practices, I focus on individual growth, building healthy relationships, and solution focused problem solving.

Participating in therapy means gaining trust, building comfort, and creating an alliance to meet set goals. Together with intention, we will define success. From there, we will identify realistic and manageable steps to take along the way. My priority is to develop and maintain a safe environment for expression, balanced with genuine empathy and reflection. I strive to empower each person to find their voice, to honor their feelings, and to value themselves.
