I have been a practicing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for five and a half years. Before becoming an NP, I was a psychiatric nurse for seven years, where I worked in in-patient and residential facilities. I worked as a Director of Nursing and am also currently an associate medical director of nursing at a community mental health center. I have experience working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, ADHD, and more.
My approach to providing care is to keep the individual as the focus of care. We are treating you and your symptoms. You are not a diagnosis. I want to make this a collaborative relationship, and you are involved in every decision and step we take to get you to wellness. I do not believe that medication solves all ills; I believe medication can be a good tool to support you through your healing, and it can be used to maintain and balance an already healthy life.
Our visit visit, I want to get to know you. While I may ask you a lot of questions, our time together should be a conversation. We will establish goals for care and create a preliminary medication plan, depending on your individual needs.
