Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois with over 30 years of experience helping people navigate life's challenges. While I hold specialized credentials in grief and loss — including a designation in Thanatology, the study of death, dying, and bereavement — my three decades of practice span relationship issues, parenting, adjusting to health and life changes, compassion fatigue, career motivation, anxiety, depression, and personal growth. I earned my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University, with clinical experience across private practice, not-for-profit, hospital, and hospice settings, and I've had the honor of walking alongside people through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

My approach to therapy

Our work together is a partnership. I'll meet you without judgment wherever you are, and I'll also hold you accountable to the goals you set, because your time matters and I want you to leave sessions with real movement, not just a place to vent. We'll spend real time on grief when that's what brought you here, helping you process loss in a way that leaves room for hope again. You'll walk away with practical tools for staying present, a clearer sense of the strengths you already have, and a steadier footing for whatever comes next. I tend to work best with people who want a thoughtful partner in the process, not just a sounding board, and who are ready to be gently pushed toward the life they're after.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is simple: brief introductions, then we get right into what's actually bringing you to therapy, so I can build a plan around your specific situation rather than a generic one. After three decades of doing this work across private practice, hospital, and hospice settings, I've learned that the first step is usually the hardest one, so if you're on the fence, consider this your sign to reach out and see if we're a good fit.
