Laura Turk

I started my career as an ICU nurse in Fort Collins, Colorado. After obtaning an MSN with a certification as an Family Nurse Practitioner, I worked in urgent care and emergency medicine for 14 years. As time progressed, I realized I was not helping my patients to find true healing in those environments. To remedy this, I obtained a certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have been doing this since 2021. Working in this practice has given me the time and resources to help people make great changes in their lives. My main focus is medication management with brief psychotherapy at each visit. I prefer to work collaboratively with my patients' therapists, primary care providers and social support system. The best healing occurs when we are surrounded by a supportive team.

My patients' goals are my goals. We identify these at the outset, then set up a plan to achieve them. Each appointment is an opportunity to check in and revise if needed or continue towards the patients' personal definition of well being.

Hope, improved mental health and a plan with clear rationale and instructions. Care provided in agreement with their goals, focusing on their concerns. My clients should never feel pressured or confused about their care. I love questions and want to be sure we are working on what the client wants to work on.
