Helping my patients feel safe, seen, and heard on the path to recovery is my primary goal as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I received my training at The Ohio State University, and I provide mental healthcare for adults and young people over age 12. I specialize in caring for patients who want to understand and address the root causes of their mental health symptoms.
In our first session, I want to learn what recovery looks like to you--what do you want to do that you're not able to do now? The initial appointment may feel like 1000 questions, but they all lead to a safe first step toward a recovery plan that we will decide upon together. In appointments, I lay out the safe options, and you decide which path you want to pursue for medication management.
I explore physical and emotional causes of mental illness taking a root-cause approach.
Because I focus on safe, long term solutions, I do not prescribed controlled substances for conditions like ADHD, anxiety, or sleep disturbances unless 1) a controlled substance is required as step therapy for the purpose of insurance reimbursement to acquire safer alternatives or 2) a patient would like to have a controlled substance deprescribed (tapered and discontinued) to arrive at a safer treatment plan.
