Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Indiana. My passion lies in integrating therapeutic evidenced-based practices to approach each individual as a unique and whole person worthy of existing, as they heal, cope, and take steps toward transformation.

I obtained a master’s degree in social work from Indiana University. I have completed almost 9 years in community mental health.

A personal fact is that I am a Christian, and professionally, I am open to faith-based counseling in my practice at your request, but this will not be implemented as part of your care unless desired. I'm not here to tell others what to believe, just here to support you and possibly offer new perspective to help propel you toward desired life goals.

I'm told I'm personable by those I work with, and I value professionalism and care, with the highest regard.

Allow me the honor of supporting you as you strive to heal, discover hope, and take steps toward your life goals.

My approach to therapy

Working through a trauma-informed lens, I serve my clients through use of EMDR, treating a variety of ages with trauma/stress related needs. I work with first responders, military, and those who have experienced abuse and neglect, and additional identifiable trauma.

Additionally, I also enjoy working with those struggling with panic disorder, anxiety, depression, relationship needs, and grief and loss.

My approach is thorough and inquisitive, rooted in understanding the whole person, to support you in transforming foundational and experiential difficulties using an integrative and individualized approach. (You're a person first, who may have layers of difficulties and negative experiences, and we're going to sort through it together, design a unique treatment plan for your needs, and dig in one step at a time, until we meet your goals). This could involve some trial and error, and we'll go at your pace. I'll be with you ever step of the way, as long as you need, and until you find the inner strength to confidently take the wheel. For most people, therapy isn't supposed to be forever; but everyone can use some support now and again. I'll meet you in the lows, and celebrate your success as we part ways.

What you can expect from me

At an intake appointment, I'll ask a lot of questions to better understand varying aspects of your life. I'll have you fill out some paperwork beforehand to assist us in a smooth session, and get logistical items squared away.

I'll use a few short questionnaires to gather mental health, safety, and substance use information, because I want to make sure, we mitigate risk before anything else. I will get to know you, and may ask about interests, strengths and weaknesses, family, how you spend your time, etc. I'm looking for relevant and useful information we can utilize in your treatment to meet your goals, and hoping to connect with you as a fellow human.

I'll empathize and acknowledge your needs, and we'll work to create some goals and objectives for these needs. I'll do my best to answer questions identify next steps, and schedule next appointments, if you decide you would like to continue with me.

There are no strings...At any point you can decide it's not a good fit, or reconsider your plans, and I will help you navigate termination or a referral to someone new with no hard feelings. Not every client is going to choose me, and that's okay, because this is your therapy, and you get to decide who is best equipped to be a part of your life and work with your needs.
