Great to meet you!

If you are the person who holds it together on the outside but feels overwhelmed on the inside, we will probably understand each other.

I’m Lauren, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Art Therapist. I work with high school teens and adults across South Carolina, both virtually and in person in Anderson. My background is in counseling and art therapy, which means our work can include traditional talk therapy, creative reflection, or a blend of both.

You don't have to be artistic. You don't have to be in crisis. You do not have to be able to explain yourself perfectly.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and tired of overthinking everything. They may struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, grief, identity questions, relationship stress, chronic illness, caregiving, or major life transitions. A lot of them are used to being the capable one. The strong one. The responsible one.

Underneath that though, they often feel unsure, stretched thin, or like they are never quite enough.

I became a therapist because I believe people deserve a space where they can be fully human without being rushed or “fixed.” My role is not to push you into becoming someone else. It is to help you come back to yourself.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when it feels steady and collaborative.

I am relational and strengths-based, which means I pay attention to the patterns in your relationships, the stories you tell yourself, and the ways you have already survived hard things. I draw from person-centered, attachment-based, narrative, compassion-focused, and solution-focused approaches.

That sounds clinical. In real life, it looks like this:

We slow down.

We get curious.

We notice what your anxiety, self-doubt, or stress is trying to protect.

We untangle old patterns gently instead of shaming them.

Therapy with me is not worksheet-driven and it is not about quick fixes. It is about depth, clarity, and building a more grounded relationship with yourself.

When it fits, we can integrate art therapy. Sometimes drawing, painting, or journaling helps you access feelings that feel too layered for words. Sometimes it just creates breathing room. Either way, the goal is insight and regulation, not performance.

I am neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQ+ affirming, and deeply respectful of each person’s unique lived experience.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is not a test. You do not have to show up polished or perfectly articulate. You do not need a dramatic story to justify being there.

We will talk about what's bringing you in right now and what feels heavy. I will ask about your history, your support system, and what you hope might feel different. You get to decide how much you share and at what pace.

My goal in the first session is simple: help you feel less alone with whatever you are carrying.

By the end, we will talk about what ongoing work could look like and whether it feels like a good fit. Therapy works best when it feels human and collaborative from the start.
