Thank you for considering me in your search for a counselor! I am the owner at The Light Within Us and I view therapy through a holistic lens treating mind-body-spirit as one. I use trauma informed, neurodiversity affirming, and LGBTQIA+ affirming approaches to my work with clients. I work with the following age groups: late middle school, high school, college, adult. I offer services in person in Belmar, NJ or virtually.
I use mindfulness as a foundational skill to support change. As an add-on to therapy, I am certified in the Safe & Sound Protocol (based on Polyvagal theory) which is designed to re-tune the nervous system and is most helpful for folks who have traumatic stress, ADHD, depression, anxiety, Autism, and sensory processing differences. I used meditation, sound frequencies, EFT energy tapping, Polyvagal somatic exercises, and other holistic modalities to treat trauma and nervous system distress. I also utilize Shame Resilience Theory (made popular by Dr. Brene Brown) as a core piece of how I support those ready for change. No one can shame themselves into healing and the research is there to back that up.
My goal is to help you go from a state of flight-fight-freeze, autopilot, shut down, shame, or reactivity to a state of choice, self-control, inner peace, and presence- to shift from surviving to thriving.
