Great to meet you!

Hi There, I am Lauren.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with minors in Spanish, and Coaching Education.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and hold a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University.

I also hold a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) from The George Washington University in Clinical Psychology.

I have a strong interest in the human mind and behavior; and want to help make the world a better place.

My initial internship, I provided individual and group therapy sessions to people involved in domestic violence. I then transferred to working at a college counseling setting, helping individuals as they progress towards their academic and professional goals. I have worked with adolescents in school and private practice settings. I also worked with adults who have a primary diagnosis of ADHD and were between the ages of 25-75 years.

My approach to therapy

I primarily practice from the psychodynamic theoretical orientation and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This means that I believe that much of mental life is unconscious; we are shaped by our genetic factors and life experiences; and that it is helpful to be intentional about identifying what you want to do with your life (i.e. who and what matters).

I believe that a meaningful life includes painful experiences and that therapy can help you manage the pain so that you can persevere and be resilient. Finally, the therapeutic relationship is very important to treatment success, therefore I spend a lot of time assessing the relationship and how it can be improved so that treatment may be successful.

What you can expect from me

During the first session we will reflect on what brings you to therapy/treatment goals. I will then share how I believe I can help; and we will discuss how that feels for you.
