A bit about my approach to therapy

Laurens foundational theoretical approach to therapy is a Person-Centered approach. This means that her approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and the belief that healing is a deeply personal and individualized process. Lauren believes that the therapeutic relationship is integral in terms of care, and works to establish and maintain this throughout the relationship. She works to create and maintain a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space to allow for her clients to engage in deep work.

From the basis of a safe therapeutic relationship, wherein the client can enter session authentically, Lauren utilizes an integrative approach that leans into a clients natural strengths, presenting concerns, and goals. Often, Lauren will utilize creative and experiential techniques. These include Expressive Arts, Sand Tray Therapy, Play Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Practices. Lauren often combines traditional talk therapy with creative/expressive approaches as these methods are particularly effective in helping clients express and process emotions that may be difficult to articulate with words alone. In addition, Lauren also often incorporates Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Individual therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into her sessions.

What you can expect from our first session

Lauren's hope is for her clients to feel a sense of safety and to experience being seen, known, and accepted for who they are. Lauren believes that healing is a holistic and personal process, and she is dedicated to empowering clients in finding their voice and sense of agency. She works collaboratively with clients to develop a plan for care that feels most affirming and supportive to the individual’s unique goals, and encourages feedback regarding what is working and what may not be. Together she and her client/(s) work towards healing in a collaborative manner. Lauren's goal is ultimately for clients to live a more fulfilling and comfortable life, whatever that may look like for each unique person.
