Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm Lauren Salerno (she/her), a licensed mental health therapist in Washington! I am also trained in art therapy, and love to incorporate creativity into my work with people. My typical client is neurodivergent, creative, and looking for healthy coping skills to learn when to adapt and when to advocate for themselves. I work with adults 18+ and sometimes with groups. Nice to meet you!

My approach to therapy

I create a safe space for people to engage with themselves using creativity and curiosity. I believe that we are all works in progress and have the capacity to learn to embrace ourselves with more compassion, while gently challenging thoughts or behavior patterns that create obstacles in our relationships and general progress.

I practice art therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-focused therapies.

I work a lot with clients who navigate the world with neurodivergence and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I also provide gender-affirming care and support for those who are gender-nonconforming.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, we will discuss some broad aspects of your life experiences, personal history, day-to-day life, and mental health goals. I will talk a bit around my approach and any initial thoughts I had around working together.

If you feel like we are a fit, we can discuss scheduling and go from there. I also encourage people to think on it, as there is no point in working with a counselor that you don't connect with.

I usually meet weekly or bi-weekly with clients, and currently work virtually.
