Great to meet you!

Hello!

I'm Lauren Shawver. I have experience in a variety of settings and specializations with populations including children and adolescents, youth and teens who are in the foster care system or who are adopted, those who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and those experiencing depression. I have been an elementary teacher. I am a native Texan and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. Spending time with family and friends is important to me. I enjoy reading and have recently learned how to crochet.

My approach to therapy

I am warm, caring, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I am a good listener. I partner with clients to examine how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. My therapeutic approach combines play and art-based interventions with behavior modification and emotional regulation techniques.

What you can expect from me

You can expect to be listened to and treated respectfully. The first session will be getting to know you and what brings you in to therapy.

I will ask questions designed to gain better understanding of your background. We will work together to identify a plan for future therapy sessions and goals. I am excited to partner with you on your therapy journey!
