Great to meet you!

Please note I am only accepting in-person clients at this time. My office is located in Nevada County. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 20+ years experience working with adults, children and youth. I have extensive training/experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief/loss, domestic violence, trauma, and attachment related issues. I work with people of all backgrounds, genders and orientations.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is based on trust in the inherent ability of every individual to find their own answers. My role as a therapist is as facilitator/guide. I provide space for exploration and offer new skills and encouragement as first steps are taken on a new path. My work integrates relationship-based and cognitive-behavioral approaches. I believe there is great interplay between what we have experienced in past relationships and how we think and feel about ourselves and others in the present. I believe that change and well-being can come from gaining insight and skills that allow us to shift how we engage in relationships to create more meaningful and fulfilling connection.

What you can expect from me

The first few sessions are an opportunity for me to get to know you, to insure I am the best fit for what you want and need and to formulate some goals for treatment. I believe that the connection between a therapist and client is foundational to change. I work from an assumption that therapy as a time-limited process where client's find the confidence to take what they have discovered in sessions and apply it to their everyday lives. Whether it takes a few months or more than a year, the ultimate goal of for clients to to be able to move on from our relationship with new, healthier options for managing life's challenges.
