ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, and Family Issues

Great to meet you!

I have worked with all ages and diagnoses as a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed School Psychologist. I have extensive experience with those with autism and co-morbid disorders (including AD/HD, depression, anxiety, IDD, LD) often diagnosed with or before the diagnosis of autism came about. I work with various stages of life including children, teens, and young adults. I often work with parents and couples to further the generalization of skills. I also have experience working with the twice-exceptional population, gifted, and those with TBIs and speech deficits.

I am also a neuropsychologist and provide neurofeedback.

I have certifications with an employment focus through Texas Workforce Commission and also a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Spectrum Clinician. I worked in the schools as a school psychologist for over 15 years. I am an advocate for families with the schools.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I am an eclectic style of therapist meaning I will utilize a wide range of strategies from commonly used therapies such as CBT, EMDR, behavioral, choice theory, solution-focused to aid in the therapeutic process forward movement.

I am upfront about goals and have clients relook at them often. I expect clients to be actively reflecting on their goals. The sessions are focused on those goals. I see the sessions as a time to actively engage and intentionally ask the client to focus on them in session and not allow the session to become a "friendship style" session. Instead, the session is about moving the client forward toward their desired goals.

What you can expect from our first session

I am an up-front therapist. I will question and ask for clarifications. I do expect the clients to work outside the sessions on what is discussed during sessions. I do not believe therapy is meant to be ongoing for the long term instead the need for it may ebb and flow and different styles are needed at different stages of life because circumstances do change. Therefore, many of my clients stop services once they have a "better handle on their skills" and when they need assistance are always welcome to return.
