Great to meet you!

Laurie is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's of Science degree operating in a therapeutic dynamic as a generalist. A longtime resident of Tucson, she has been actively involved in serving the local community through volunteer work in various non-profit outreaches that have served the populace for over 30 years. She eagerly is reinventing herself and her contribution within the mental health field seeking new ways to support the healing of others and focusing on education to expand her current interventions, modalities, and skills.

Laurie has authored three biographical books of faith and God’s amazing work in the lives of local spectacular women and is currently working on a fourth story about victory over adversity. Modalities for therapy include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with emphasis on trauma and grief using Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Laurie also works with married couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy and Focus Marital Therapy (FMT) to help restore communication skills and harmony to the marital relationship. Laurie will see clients using ZOOM telehealth and hopes to offer real connection and alliance to those seeking support and guidance.

With academic pursuits, Laurie wants to continue to learn new modalities and intervention tools that will aid clients on their wellness journey. She works tirelessly to grow new skills offering viable, solution-focused, and evidence-based interventions to those looking for guidance and practical tools useful beyond the therapeutic office.

My approach to therapy

Laurie has a favorite quote guiding all research, studies, and work within the field of mental health. Quoting Carl G Jung, “Master all theories, master all techniques, but when you touch a human soul, be solely another human soul.” This philosophy influences efforts to develop specialized, evidenced-based restorative treatment plans for each client with whom she builds an alliance. Her approach is to holistically serve clientele while fostering a strong therapeutic-based healing environment.

What you can expect from me

Therapy’s goal is to meet the client where they are and support them in their pursuit of mental health. Laurie is driven to work within the individual’s nature while supporting all aspects of their identity to represent the most significant components. Clients should leave sessions with a sense of purpose, hope, and direction as they acquire new skills and coping mechanisms that are easy to implement and are useful for a return to a healthier daily life function.
