Great to meet you!

Hello! I am Layla and have been a therapist for 5 years now. I enjoy getting to know clients and their needs through talk therapy and simple assessments to begin with for initial sessions. Working on developing mindfulness is useful for anxiety reduction and nervous system regulation, but also aids in identifying deeper issues for ongoing therapy modalities such as EMDR. I have an undergraduate in child development with an emphasis in cultural studies from Northern Arizona University and my Master's from Grand Canyon university. Having done my internship in a private practice in Flagstaff AZ where a holistic approach to mental health was valued, was a great beginning for my practice! Most recently, 4 years of my work has been in community mental health where I was able to receive the supervision and training needed as well as being able to develop my style as a therapist with guidance and support.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is tailored to the individual, within the realm of using talk therapy, short assessments, mindfulness, CBT, DBT, and EMDR. My intent and focus is to help in ways truly meaningful to the client!

What you can expect from me

My focus is to create space for clients to express feelings, identifying areas to make changes in daily life for better functioning, reframing unhelpful thinking patterns, and processing trauma. Regulating the nervous system through mindfulness activities, developing more helpful thoughts patterns/beliefs/behaviors, and improved emotional stability through self-compassion are some benefits received by my clients. Many of my clients share that a large part of what they experience is being able to talk, express, and share their story with someone who listens, cares, and relays a feeling of nonjudgement (as one of the biggest indicators of successful therapy is having a good rapport between client and therapist). This foundation allows for the specific modalities to have even more of an impact.
