Great to meet you!

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and young adults who are seeking to change unhelpful patterns of thinking, develop healthier coping strategies, and navigate difficult situations, relationships, and life experiences.

I retired from a rewarding career in education that included teaching, administration, and counseling, with most of my experience working at the high school level. My background in education and counseling has given me a strong understanding of the challenges young adults and families face and has shaped my desire to support individuals as they work toward meaningful and lasting change.

I strive to provide a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences, gain insight into their thoughts and behaviors, strengthen their relationships, and develop practical skills for managing life's challenges.

My approach to therapy

I primarily utilize talk psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my work with clients. I also incorporate other evidence-based therapeutic approaches and modalities based on each client's individual needs, goals, and circumstances. My approach is flexible and client-centered, allowing me to tailor the counseling process to support each person's unique strengths, challenges, and desired outcomes.

What you can expect from me

The first session will focus on reviewing the counseling process, discussing expectations for both the therapist and client, and completing a general assessment of the client's needs, concerns, and goals. This initial meeting provides an opportunity to establish rapport, clarify the counseling process, and begin identifying areas that may benefit from support.

For clients under the age of 18, a parent or caregiver is expected to accompany the client during the first session. This allows for the collection of relevant background information, discussion of expectations and concerns, and development of an appropriate plan for ongoing counseling services.
