Great to meet you!

You've gotten good at holding it together. You show up for work, for the people you love, for everything on your list, but underneath, your body still braces like something bad is about to happen. I'm Leah, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I work with adults living with the effects of trauma, anxiety, panic, and painful relationship or family patterns. My background includes crisis response, victim advocacy, and trauma-focused counseling, so I've sat with people through some of their hardest moments. I'm especially glad to support women, gay, lesbian, and bisexual clients, and anyone sorting through questions of identity.

My approach to therapy

You're the expert on your own life, so our work is a partnership. I'll pay close attention to what feels manageable for you, and we'll slow down or change direction whenever you need to. Depending on your goals, I draw from Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR-informed techniques, mindfulness, and emotion-focused work. In everyday terms, that means we'll make sense of how past experiences are showing up in your life now, notice the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck, and build on the strengths you already have. I'm interested in the whole picture of your life, not just the symptoms that brought you in, and I'll meet whatever you share with curiosity rather than judgment.

What you can expect from me

If you're nervous about booking, that's completely understandable. For many people, reaching out is the hardest part. Our first session is mostly a conversation. I'll ask what's been going on, what you'd like to feel differently, and what you're hoping to get from therapy. You don't need to tell your whole story or have the right words. If a question feels like too much, you can tell me to skip it, and we can pause anytime. I'll also explain how I work and answer any questions you have about me or the process. My hope is that you'll leave feeling a little lighter and with a clearer sense of whether we're a good fit. Over time, our sessions can become a steady place to make sense of what you've been through, feel more grounded, and practice tools for handling stress, emotions, and relationships in daily life.
