Great to meet you!
Hey there, my name is Leah (Lay-ah) and I am a nerd who loves her dog, reading books, making art when creative energy is present and low key hangs with friends.
There are so many reasons to seek out therapy. Maybe you have been in therapy for years, maybe this is your first time. Whatever the reason or your experience, I am glad that you are here, seeking time to set aside for yourself. This world is hard: systems are oppressive, relationships and communities are complex and our individual survival strategies within all these dynamics are incredibly varied. Therapy is a space that we build together to reflect on what is happening for you, to process the road that led you here and to set in place obtainable, sustainable response strategies.
I have been offering therapy for four years and social work services for a decade more. I come to this work with a real curiosity and care for the human condition. I am energized by connection and use liberatory harm reduction (What is LHR?) as the cornerstone framing for all therapies I offer.
I have a background in grassroots community organizing, particularly within the LGBTQIA+ communities and for housing justice. I have conducted community workshops about abuse in relationships, harm reduction and skill sharing. In the therapy space I draw from IFS, Generative Somatics, Relational, Emotion Focused and Person First modalities. I have focused training in Trauma and Healing, Depression and Suicidality, Grief, Death Work/Death Doulaing, EMDR, DBT, Unpacking Antifatness & Diet Culture, Disability Justice and AntiColonialist approaches. Together we would be thinking about the world around us, the communities you interact with and how they create a matrix you are trying to make choices within. My social justice orientation and desire for individual, community and collective liberation are a part of how I will show up for you.
