Great to meet you!

I grew up in New York City on the Lower East Side. My parents were teachers, I went to two different private Quaker schools and graduated from Vassar College in 1995. I received a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and my Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), from the Ferkauf School of Psychology, Yeshiva University. My dissertation was on Post-College Transition.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Broadly speaking my orientation is psychodynamic, but I’m not a big fan of orthodoxy or reverence and I’m reluctant to assume an affiliation that defines me. I’m a native New Yorker, a humanist with a pragmatic bent, and ardent Knick fan, and currently living on the Lower East Side. I seek to be my genuine self as a therapist, friend, loved one and traveler.

What you can expect from our first session

Our work together will be meaningful and vibrant. My work can be present focused and involve problem solving and I am also comfortable looking back at your life helping you to better understand patterns of relating and communicating that are impacting all important aspects of your life, including therapy. Feelings are essential, and cannot be excluded from life or therapy. I love to look at dreams, but certainly don’t require that you share them with me.
