Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have worked within the mental health field for the past four years. With a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English and a Masters of Science in Counselor Education, I have experience with developing strong and trusting relationships, helping individuals process their emotions, and blending therapeutic approaches for creative solutions.

I have experience working with a range of clients including children who are five and older, adolescents, and adults. I have worked in a variety of settings from clinical to school-based, and feel comfortable and confident in creating an environment in any space to help individuals feel comfortable and promote optimal growth and well-being. I have experience helping clients with anxiety, adjustment disorders, depression, life transitions, stress, and eating disorders as well as providing a setting for clients to learn skills and insights to manage and regulate their emotions.

My approach to therapy

I first focus on growing the therapeutic relationship with individuals through encouragement, strength-finding, and collaborative goal-setting. I believe it is important to meet clients where they are at and understand them in terms of their needs, concerns, developmental milestones, and social context in order to best facilitate the therapeutic process and help them achieve their goals. I typically take a CBT approach, but ultimately, am very person-centered in my understanding of each client. I will always ask you what you need in the moment and we will work from there together.

What you can expect from me

The first session is all about getting to know you, what you're looking from therapy, and how I can best support you. It's also an important meeting for you determine if my style and approach is going to fit your needs! I am always a big advocate for my clients to identify and verbalize what they need from a therapist. To help with easing any anxiety, I like to set expectations and provide psychoeducation to help you navigate the therapeutic process. I may also ask a lot more questions during this first meeting so we have a better footing to start the real work during our second meeting.
